Our Instructor
John Nguyen Sensei holds a 5th Degree (Godan) certificate from the Aikikai Federation in Japan. He is a long-time student of Patricia Hendricks Shihan and has served as uchi deshi (live-in apprentice) to both Hendricks Shihan and Hitohira Saito Soke in Iwama, Japan. He has taught at Aikido of Charlottesville, Aikido of Arlington, and the University of Virginia.
About our Dojo
Aikido of Fairfax is an Iwama-Ryu dojo in Reston, Virginia, and a proud member of Division 1 of the California Aikido Association under Patricia Hendricks Shihan. We study the traditional Iwama style passed down by Morihiro Saito Shihan, with strong emphasis on weapons, empty-handed techniques, and mastering the fundamentals. Our dojo offers a respectful, supportive space for sincere training and personal growth.
