Classes
Getting Started
You’re welcome to observe or even try a class for free. If you decide to join in, please wear comfortable, gym-appropriate clothing. Be sure to remove all jewelry and shoes before stepping onto the mat. We also ask that you read our etiquette guidelines and sign the waiver beforehand. There’s no better way to understand Aikido than by experiencing it yourself.
After class, the instructor or senior students will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
To quote my friend, Doug Reichert Sensei from Aikido of Winnipeg, “Take some time to reflect on your reasons for wanting to study Aikido—it’s a lifelong journey with many rewards.”
If we both feel it’s a good fit, you’ll be invited to register as a member of the dojo.
Kids Class
We’re happy to offer a Kids Class, ages 8-14. Our Kids Class introduces students to the foundations of Aikido, including traditional Iwama weapons practice with ken and jo. Training emphasizes coordination, balance, and awareness in a supportive setting. Children explore movement, cooperation, and respect while learning martial arts as a discipline and cultural tradition
Schedule
Each class includes a warm-up and stretching routine, followed by weapon training (bukiwaza) and open-hand techniques (taijutsu), and concludes with randori practice. Every week, we introduce a new concept to guide and inspire students in their training.
